Sixty-seven houses in Lagos have been devastated with the effect of the flood arising from the heavy downpours on Monday which swept away two men.
The flood also submerged houses and took over major roads during the persistent heavy downpours experienced in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to the theguildng.com, aside from the casualties recorded in the Alimosho, over 66 houses were said to have been submerged by flood in Akinwunmi, Ebun Otti, and Arowojobe Estates around the Maryland axis of the state.
The casualties were confirmed by the Spokesperson for National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Southwest, Ibrahim Farinloye, in a statement released on Monday to newsmen in the state.
The Credible had earlier reported that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday rescued alive nine people who were in a sunk building due to the heavy rainfall in Lagos State.

The nine females were trapped when the storey building around Akinwunmi Street, Mende, in the Maryland area of Lagos State, sunk due to a heavy downpour.
However, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye said the yet-to-be-identified ladies were rescued as soon as his officers swung into action.
According to him, the agency’s officials were deployed to rescue the victims after receiving a distress call about the sunk building.
“NEMA received a distressed alert on a sinking Storey building where nine people are said to be trapped. The building is located at 47 Akinwunmi street, Akinwunmi North Estate, Mende, Maryland, Ikeja.
“The torrential rainfall, which lasted for about four hours in the early hours of the day, flooded lots of communities in Lagos State. NEMA advance team upon close observations called for more reinforcement of personnel,” he said.
