Tried and Tested Steps to Greatness in Life Discovers

Many people aspire to achieve greatness in life, but what does it really mean to be great? And how can one pursue this goal in a meaningful and fulfilling way? In this blog post, I will share some insights and tips on how to become great in life, based on my own experience and research.

First of all, let me clarify what I mean by greatness. Greatness is not about fame, wealth, power or status. These are external indicators that may or may not reflect one’s true value and potential. Greatness is about being the best version of yourself, living up to your highest standards and ideals, and making a positive impact on the world around you. Greatness is a personal and subjective concept that can only be defined by you.

So how can you achieve greatness in life? Here are some steps that I have found helpful:

  1. Know yourself. The first step to greatness is to understand who you are, what you want, what you are good at, what you are passionate about, and what your purpose is. This requires self-awareness, introspection and reflection. You can use tools such as personality tests, journaling, meditation, coaching or mentoring to help you discover yourself.
  2. Set goals. The second step to greatness is to set clear and specific goals that align with your vision and values. Goals help you focus your energy and resources on what matters most to you, and motivate you to take action. You can use frameworks such as SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) or OKR (Objectives and Key Results) to help you set effective goals.
  3. Plan and execute. The third step to greatness is to create a realistic and flexible plan that outlines the steps and strategies you need to take to achieve your goals. A plan helps you organize your thoughts and actions, and track your progress and results. You can use tools such as calendars, planners, checklists or apps to help you plan and execute your plan.
  4. Learn and grow. The fourth step to greatness is to constantly learn new skills and knowledge that can help you improve yourself and your performance. Learning helps you expand your horizons, overcome challenges and adapt to changes. You can use sources such as books, podcasts, courses, seminars or mentors to help you learn and grow.
  5. Seek feedback. The fifth step to greatness is to seek honest and constructive feedback from others who can help you evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and identify areas for improvement. Feedback helps you gain perspective, learn from mistakes and celebrate successes. You can use methods such as surveys, reviews, ratings or peer reviews to help you seek feedback.
  6. Be resilient. The sixth step to greatness is to be resilient in the face of difficulties and failures that may arise along the way. Resilience helps you cope with stress, overcome obstacles and bounce back from setbacks. You can use strategies such as positive thinking, gratitude, optimism or mindfulness to help you be resilient.
  7. Serve others. The seventh step to greatness is to serve others with your talents, skills and resources. Serving others helps you make a difference in the world, create value for others and fulfil your purpose. You can use opportunities such as volunteering, donating, mentoring or teaching to help you serve others.

These are some of the steps that I have found useful in my journey towards greatness in life. Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all formula for achieving greatness in life. Everyone has their own definition of greatness and their own path to follow. The most important thing is to be true to yourself, pursue your passion and purpose, and enjoy the process.

For example, for some people, greatness may mean becoming a successful entrepreneur, a renowned artist, or a Nobel Prize winner. For others, it may mean raising a happy family, helping others in need, or making a positive difference in their community.

Step 2: Set SMART goals and action plans.

Once you have a vision of greatness, you need to break it down into specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. These are the milestones that will help you track your progress and stay motivated. For each goal, you also need to create an action plan that outlines the steps you need to take, the resources you need to use, and the obstacles you need to overcome. Review your goals and action plans regularly and adjust them as needed.

Step 3: Cultivate a growth mindset and a positive attitude.

Greatness is not a fixed trait that you either have or don’t have. It is a result of continuous learning, improvement, and adaptation. To achieve greatness, you need to cultivate a growth mindset that embraces challenges, seeks feedback, learns from failures, and celebrates successes. You also need to maintain a positive attitude that focuses on the opportunities rather than the problems, on the solutions rather than the excuses, and on the gratitude rather than the complaints.

For example, instead of saying “I can’t do this”, say “I can learn how to do this”. Instead of saying “This is too hard”, say “This is an opportunity to grow”. Instead of saying “I failed”, say “I learned something valuable”. Instead of saying “I don’t have enough time”, say “I will prioritize what matters most”. Instead of saying “I’m not good enough”, say “I’m proud of how far I’ve come”.
