Kidnappers Whisk Away 18-Seater Bus Passengers In Kogi
An 18-seater bus was reportedly hijacked by kidnappers on the Anyigba-Itobe route in Kogi State’s Ofu Local Government Area.
According to an eyewitness, the event occurred at 4 p.m. on Monday at the notorious kidnapping spot at Ochadamu on the aforementioned route.
Our reporter learned from a reliable source in the neighbourhood that the kidnappers stopped the bus at gunpoint and evacuated the passengers into the jungle.
The bus was claimed to be travelling from the country’s east to Abuja.
Locals also stated that kidnappings in the Ochadamu flashpoint had increased after the army checkpoint in the region was removed.

Locals also stated that kidnappings in the Ochadamu flashpoint had increased after the army checkpoint in the region was removed.
Since the incident on Monday, security personnel, including vigilantes in the region, have been claimed to be working feverishly to rescue the kidnapped victims.
However, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (retd), the state security adviser to governor Yahaya Bello, who verified the event on Thursday, claimed the state administration was on top of the situation to apprehend the kidnappers.
He claimed that the state government has taken adequate measures to apprehend the kidnappers, rescue the victims, and stem the tide of criminal activity in the area.
Omodara stated that since the kidnappers revived in the region, the government will rethink its strategy and match fire with fire, ensuring that the kidnappers will be neutralised soon.
“We have fought them, we will fight the kidnappers, and we will keep fighting them until they are neutralised in that state axis.” “Security agents have been notified, and they will take appropriate action,” he stated.
He went on to say that the administration has a zero-tolerance policy for criminal activity in any section of the state and that the tide of such heinous incidents would be decreased and abolished.
