Major Rehabilitation of 3rd Mainland Bridge Underway, Partial Closure Implemented for Repair Work

The Federal Government has announced the closure of certain sections of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State for repair work.

Motorists will not have access to the ramps connecting Adekunle and Ebute Meta for the next two weeks.

However, the main deck of the 11.8km bridge will remain open to traffic.

The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the contractor responsible for the project, began the closure at 9 a.m. on Monday.

The repairs will be carried out in two phases, with the closed sections being addressed first, followed by the other two ramps.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, emphasized that the closure is necessary for comprehensive repairs.

Works Minister David Umahi assured that the repairs would be conducted during weekend nights to minimize inconvenience for road users.

During the closure, motorists are advised to seek alternative routes such as Ikorodu Road, Murtala Mohammed Way, Ojota, and Gbagada.

The Third Mainland Bridge is a vital transportation link and these repairs are part of ongoing efforts to maintain its structural integrity.
