FG Declares September 27 Eid Maulud Public Holiday

The Federal Government has designated Wednesday, September 27, as a public holiday to honour this year’s Eid Maulud festival, which honours the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The supreme government, meanwhile, urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, who would be joining their brothers around the world to mark the day, to use it to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, and perseverance, which were virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The date was revealed by the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Monday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade.

Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated Muslims for witnessing this year’s occasion, stressed that imbibing virtues of Prophet Muhammad would guarantee peace and security in the country.

The Minister urged youths to embrace hard work and peaceful dispositions to fellow citizens irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity.
