CBN’s Generous Book Donation Boosts LASU Faculty of Social Sciences Ahead of Accreditation

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos State University, has received another donation of books from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos Branch. The books’ donation was received in the office of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lagos State University, Prof. Olufemi Lawal, on Thursday, 2nd November 2023.

This time, a total number of three hundred and forty-five (345) books, journals, and annual reports, published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), were donated to the university.

According to the Dean, Prof. Olufemi Lawal, the donation came in at the right time. He said “…the faculty is currently in preparation for accreditation, with these books, our library is fortified with relevant and recent books, journals and annual reports in the discipline of economics and finance…so this has further bolstered our confidence as we go into the accreditation.”

He thanked the donor (CBN, Lagos Branch), his colleagues for support enjoyed and, in particular, Head, Department of Economics, Dr. Jameelah Yaqub.

Other members of the faculty in attendance were : the Sub-Dean, Dr. Bolawale Odunaike, Dr. Samad Lawal, Dr. Rukayat Yussuff, Dr. Bello Hassan Taiwo, Dr. Salami Dada Kareem (Department of Economics) and Dr. Oluranti Samuel (Head, Department of Sociology).

Recall that the Faculty had earlier received a donation of books from the West Africa Institute For Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) on Tuesday, 31st October 2023.
