Again, Appeal Court Orders ASUU To Call Off Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been given permission to appeal the National Industrial Court’s verdict ordering the union to put off its strike.

The court, however, allowed the application on the condition that the union follow the lower court’s order and call off the strike immediately pending the outcome of the substantive complaint.

The court handed ASUU seven days to submit an appeal.

According to reports, the National Industrial Court ordered ASUU to put off the strike on September 21.

The court granted the Federal Government’s move on notice, urging the instructors to return to the classroom.

In his decision on the interlocutory injunction, trial judge Justice Polycarp Hamman exercised restraint.
