The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has officially announced the disbursement of the TETFund 2025 intervention disbursement cycle, allocating billions of naira to public tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The disbursement, which was confirmed on Thursday, aims to improve infrastructure, research, and overall academic excellence in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

According to TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono, each university will receive N2.86 billion, polytechnics will get N1.99 billion, and colleges of education will receive N2.17 billion under the 2025 intervention cycle.

At a strategic workshop in Abuja, the Executive Secretary detailed the specific allocation structure:

• Universities: N2,560,562,352.66 under normal allocation, plus an additional N300,000,000 for zonal allocation, totaling N2,860,562,352.66 per institution.
• Polytechnics: N1,794,335,731.71 under normal allocation, plus N200,000,000 for zonal allocation, totaling N1,994,335,731.71 per institution.

Government Directives for TETFund 2025 Disbursement

In line with the Federal Government’s directives, all funding for Physical Infrastructure Development in 2025 will focus on:

• Upgrading and renovating dilapidated structures in tertiary institutions.
• Rehabilitation of educational facilities to enhance learning environments.

Echono reiterated that institutions had been advised in advance to consult widely and prepare their project proposals ahead of time to ensure smooth implementation.

• Expanding central multipurpose research laboratories in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt.

• Enhancing the National Skills Development/TVET program in polytechnics to improve vocational training.
