YABATECH Confers Fellowship Award on Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas

Prestigious Recognition at 36th Convocation Ceremony

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) will honor Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria, and Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, with its esteemed fellowship award during the institution’s 36th Convocation Ceremony. This announcement was made by the Rector, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul, during a press conference held at the college’s Council Chamber.

Honoring Distinguished Nigerians

Dr. Abdul expressed pride in recognizing two exceptional leaders: “We are privileged to honor two distinguished Nigerians with the prestigious fellowship award of Yaba College of Technology. These individuals have made remarkable contributions to Nigeria and have inspired generations through their leadership and vision.” The fellowship awardees are Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, OON, and His Excellency, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D, GCON.

Values of Dedication, Integrity, and Excellence

The Rector emphasized that the achievements of the awardees in public service embody the values of dedication, integrity, and excellence, which are essential to instilling in students. He conveyed YABATECH’s pride in having them as part of its community.

Convocation Activities and Highlights

The Rector outlined the convocation’s schedule, starting with a special Jumat Service, followed by an Interdenominational Service on Sunday at the Yusuf Grillo Art Auditorium. The Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will deliver the convocation lecture, while His Excellency, the Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Kashim Shettima GCON, will chair the event.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu will address the topic of “Developing Exportable Alternatives for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery,” drawing on his experience as the Governor of Nigeria’s most prosperous state. The insights generated from this lecture will contribute to YABATECH’s role in the economic diversification and recovery efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Graduating Class of 8,139 Students

In terms of academic achievements, Dr. Abdul announced that a total of 8,139 students will be graduating from YABATECH. The breakdown of graduates includes 316 students with distinction, 2,381 with upper credit division, 3,939 with lower credit, and 1,503 receiving diplomas with a pass grade.
