In Kogi State, where the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, is the youth campaign manager for Bola Tinubu’s Presidency 2023, has lost over 5000 of its members to the Peoples Democratic Power.
In Avrugo and nearby wards in Kogi State’s Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, APC members switched to the PDP on Sunday while Bello was busy campaigning for Tinubu.
Collins Adama, a former vice chairman of the LGA who inspired other party members to join the PDP, claimed that the APC had let down Nigerians.
He said that it was time for Nigerians to reject substandard leadership in the general election of 2023, emphasising that any error made at this time would be fatal for the country.
Adamu applauded the local government stakeholders for their leadership style and Kogi state and federal elections of the main opposition party for choosing candidates who can spread the benefits of democracy throughout the whole country.

The Igalamela/Odolu Local Government PDP Chairman, Hon. Attai Salifu, and the party’s state assembly candidate, Hon. Zakito Umar, welcomed the defectors into the PDP family and warned the governing APC to be ready to pack their bags from both Kogi State and the federal level.
Salifu predicted that the PDP would triumph in the general election of 2023 while urging other wards and voting stations in the local government of Kogi State to follow Avurgo’s lead.
Umar, the former executive chairman of the local government and current candidate for the state legislature in Kogi State, said that during his time in office, nine physical infrastructure projects in the Avrugo ward were completed.
In his list of physical infrastructure projects, he mentioned building bridges, culverts, boreholes, primary health care facilities, and recreation centres all around the ward.
Umar pledged to provide the populace with effective and representative representation if elected to the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Umar in Kogi was characterised as a man of competence and capacity by the female head of the local government, Honorable Mary Atebije, who also noted that he was a master administrator. She asked the electorates to trust him since he has proven himself in the local administration and has earned their trust.
