Governor Abiodun List 30 Police Teams as Security Hope at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Mr Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, said Wednesday that he has deployed 30 police teams along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, to dislodge the activities of kidnappers along that axis of the state.
Abiodun said: “As we speak, I believe there are at least 30 police teams on that stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.” These squads are made up of soldiers, police officers, DSS agents, Civil Defence personnel, and vigilantes.
Governor Abiodun vowed that with these police teams his administration would combat kidnappers abducting people on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, particularly on the Ogun sector of the country’s busiest roadway.
Abiodun also revealed that the state, in collaboration with Oyo State, has formed a joint security squad to beef up protection along the highway.

The governor made the remarks while hosting the leadership of the Leadership Newspapers in his office.
Abiodun said: “We established a cooperative security team with the Oyo State Government because we discovered that the majority of these incidents occur precisely at the border between us and Oyo State,” he says. That area serves as a blind spot for them.
“The last thing we want is for people to travel in dread of being abducted, and nothing could be more terrible as the holiday season approaches.”
“We’ve also gone ahead and cleared both sides of the road because of the element of surprise that they introduce when they just jump out of the bushes and then kidnap and flee, so we’ve approached our contractors to clear 50 metres on each side so it makes it difficult for them to hide in the bushes,” Abiodun added.
