Akeredolu Approves Establishment of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) Through New Bill

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has approved a measure that establishes 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) around the state.

Now that the state House of Assembly has approved the legislation, the LCDAs can be created with the required legal support. Speaker of the House of Assembly Oladiji Olamide handed the measure to Akeredolu for his approval.

The establishment of the LCDAs, according to Richard Olatunde, the governor’s chief press secretary, who confirmed the news in a statement over the weekend, is an important step towards achieving the expectations of the populace for better grassroots development.

According to the state, the governor has shown an unwavering commitment to enhancing public service delivery, and the creation of the LCDAs will bring governance closer to the people.

Meanwhile, the creation of the LCDAs had triggered upheavals within the state due to allegations of marginalization raised by certain communities.
