Afenifere Lauds Akeredolu’s Security Initiative In South-West

Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has received praise from the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere for taking a principled stand against the federal government on matters of national importance, particularly true federalism.

This was said by the group’s national leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, in a message of sympathy he sent to the governor on Saturday following the passing of his mother, Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu, who passed away a few days ago at the age of 90.

Adebanjo said the association was impressed by Akeredolu’s stance on the need for multilevel policing, particularly by the state police in the federation. Adebanjo’s message was given to the governor by the secretary general of the association, Chief Olusola Ebiseni.

We just learned of your gutsy and utterly brave stand on the necessity of adequately arming the Amotekun, he continued.

We are especially pleased by your fortitude to speak on behalf of our people despite the fact that you are the chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and were elected on the same political party’s platform as the President.

One of the Afenifere leaders, Chief Korede Duyile, expressed his condolences to the governor, his siblings, and the entire family. He prayed to God to give the family the strength to endure the irreparable loss.

“We are here to express our condolences on the passing of Mama on behalf of the Afenifere Ondo State Chapter and to the knowledge of the Afenifere leaders who reside in Ondo State, including Pa Fasoranti, Chief Falae, Basorun Arogbofa, and Chief Aluko.

Late Grace Akeredolu arrived and enjoyed a happy life, serving not only as a pillar of support for her deceased husband, as we were told, but also as a loving mother in a million to the family and a sign of the magnificent gift of children to humanity.

In response, Akeredolu said he was thankful to God for his mother’s survival and thanked the leaders of all the groups both inside and outside the state.

We sincerely praise God for Akeredolu Mama’s life. She was only able to live to the ripe old age of 90 because of God’s grace. The governor remarked, “We, her children, are grateful that we survived her.
