APC Chair Summons Emergency Meeting Over Governors Public Disobedience To Buhari

. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called an emergency meeting of all party governors.

This is happening as many of the party’s governors openly oppose President Muhammadu Buhari’s Naira Redesign policy.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s chairman, announced the meeting on Friday night, saying it will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Although the agenda for the meeting has not been disclosed, it is likely to be related to the crisis rocking the party over the Central Bank of Nigeria’s redesigned Naira.

At least ten states on the party’s platform have taken the Federal Government to the Supreme Court where they asked the court to restrain the FG from effecting the deadline for the expiration of old Naira notes.

In spite of the Supreme Court order restraining the federal government from effecting the deadline, President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday insisted that the old N500 and N1000 were no longer legal tender.

He however authorized the CBN to re-introduce the old N200 to co-exist with the new one until April this year.

Dissatisfied with the President position, some APC governors including Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, Dr. Ganduje of Kano State, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State have told residents of their states to keep collecting the old notes in absolute defiance to the President, thus making many people believe that the party was at war with itself.
