APC Chieftain Urges Crackdown on Insecurity Financiers in Nigeria

Oyintiloye Calls on President Tinubu to Expose Sponsors of Banditry
A prominent All Progressives Congress, APC Chieftain in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian security agencies to shift the battle against insecurity toward identifying and prosecuting those financing banditry and insurgency across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday in Osogbo, the APC Chieftain, a former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), condemned the recent spate of gruesome attacks in Benue and Plateau states, which left many innocent Nigerians dead. He described the killings as tragic, senseless, and completely unacceptable.
Financiers and Suppliers Must Be Tracked, Says APC Chieftain
According to the former Osun lawmaker, the ongoing battle against insecurity will remain ineffective as long as bandits and insurgents continue to receive steady supplies of food, ammunition, operational vehicles, and drugs. He emphasized that no criminal gang could thrive without backers and sponsors who provide vital resources.
“The point is that to effectively combat insecurity in the country, it is important to target the individuals and entities that are bankrolling criminal activities and insurgencies,” Oyintiloye said.
The APC Chieftain insisted that the key to disrupting the operations of criminal gangs lies in tracing their sources of financial and logistical support.
Strengthening Intelligence and Prosecuting Sponsors Publicly
Oyintiloye further recommended a multi-faceted strategy, which would include enhanced intelligence gathering, anti-corruption initiatives, and global cooperation to cut off the financial lifelines of criminal syndicates.
The APC Chieftain warned that unless these sponsors are publicly identified and prosecuted, the Nigerian state may continue to struggle with recurring violence and instability.
“This requires strengthening intelligence gathering and analysis, implementing robust anti-corruption measures, and fostering international cooperation to disrupt financial flows,” he stated.

Insecurity Cannot Be Politicized, APC Chieftain Warns
Oyintiloye expressed concern that certain individuals were attempting to politicize the issue of insecurity in order to score cheap points against President Tinubu. He cautioned that such actions were dangerous and unpatriotic.
He called for a united national front in tackling terrorism and banditry, saying, “Those using the insecurity situation to score political points against the President should be treated as enemies of the country.”
Commends Tinubu’s Security Efforts but Calls for More Action
While commending the Tinubu administration for its efforts so far in combating insecurity, Oyintiloye stressed the need for more visible actions, particularly the public prosecution of insurgency sponsors.
He believes this will serve as a deterrent and build public confidence in the government’s resolve to end terrorism and restore peace.
“There is no doubt that the security agencies are doing their best, and the result of their efforts is visible, but more needs to be done in exposing the sponsors of these evil acts,” he said.
Calls for Reform of Nigeria’s Criminal Justice System
Beyond arrests, Oyintiloye highlighted the weaknesses in Nigeria’s institutional and judicial frameworks, noting that a reformed system is crucial for ensuring justice and accountability.
He urged the federal government to strengthen democratic institutions, improve transparency, and reinforce the rule of law to enhance the credibility of the security architecture.
“Arresting financiers of insurgency without addressing the issues of criminal justice by prosecuting them publicly might not yield the needed results,” he warned.
Nigeria Will Overcome Security Challenges – Oyintiloye
Despite the prevailing challenges, the APC chieftain expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to overcome its current security difficulties. He appealed to Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of government efforts.
With the right political will and public cooperation, he believes the country can dismantle the networks sustaining terrorism and criminality.
