Appeal Court Dismisses Suit Seeking To Sack All PDP Candidates In Zamfara

The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto has dismissed the suit seeking to sack all People Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in Zamfara State.

This was adjudged by the three Justices of the Court of Appeal, Justice M L Shuaibu JCA, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal Sokoto Division.

The justices who delivered the judgment held that the retrial is an academic exercise.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Zamfara State and its candidate, Dauda Lawal Dare, appealed, and the Court of Appeal Sokoto, Division rendered its decision.

This was stated in a statement that Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, the state’s commissioner of information, signed and distributed to reporters in Gusau, the state’s capital.

The party’s governorship primary election was declared invalid for not complying with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and PDP guidelines for conducting primary elections, according to the statement.

The reexamination was made against this judgement, which was handed down by the Federal High Court in Gusau on September 16, 2022.

The appeal is an academic exercise, according to a unanimous ruling by the three justices of the Court of Appeal, issued by Justice M. L. Shuaibu JCA, the presiding justice of the Court of Appeal Sokoto Division.

The retrial was therefore denied, and the appellants were charged a fee of $100,000.00.
