Baba-Ahmed Urges Voters to Avoid Tribal or Religious Politicians

Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate, has urged Nigerians to avoid voting for politicians who exploit religious and tribal passions during campaigns.

“I implore you to disregard such people and vote for credibility, competence, character, equity, fairness, and justice in order to keep Nigeria from disintegrating.”

Baba-Ahmed, who made this plea during a town-hall gathering with key stakeholders in Minna, Niger State, on Saturday, stated that any candidate who continues to employ religious and tribal feelings as a campaign strategy is not good for the country.

Baba-Ahmed claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress had misruled the country for the previous 24 years.

“Fellow sufferers of insecurity, corruption, and other vices, we, Nigerians, have been deceived, and we did not cheat; these politicians from other parties have cheated us.” The end of these heinous problems has arrived.

“If the APC and the PDP are better after 24 years of combined rule, why are we still confronting the difficulties we are?” It is time, Nigerians, to reclaim our country,” Baba-Ahmed stated

Baba-Ahmed exhorted the youths to get their permanent voter’s cards and turn out in large numbers to vote out politicians who have outlived their usefulness yet wish to stay in power against the will of the people.

“Vote out politicians that have nothing to hide from their lies and lack of ideas for resolving Nigeria’s miles of problems.”

“They would hunt for every opportunity to sow discord, religious and ethnic emotions, so Nigerians should not fall for their tricks,” Baba-Ahmed added.

Same Saturday Baba-Ahmed advised Nigerians, Credible News reported that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate stated that the Hausa and the Fulani in the north cannot vote any Yoruba or Igbo as president of Nigeria during the 2023 elections.

Atiku bombshelled his chances of getting many votes from the southern part of the country during an Interactive Session With Arewa Joint Committee conducted on Saturday in Kaduna State.

He misfired when in response to a question put to him by the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.

Northerners, Atiku claimed, should vote for him rather than a Yoruba or Igbo candidate since he is a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin.

When Baba-Ahmed asked Atiku why Northerners should vote for him, the PDP presidential candidate responded, “What the typical Northerner needs is someone who is from the north, understands that area of the country, and has been able to develop bridges throughout the country.”

“This is what the Northerner requires; it does not require a Yoruba or an Igbo candidate; instead, I come before you as a Pan-Nigerian of northern background.”
