Building Under Construction Collapses, Traps 2, Rescue 5

No fewer than five person’s have been rescued, while two trapped at a collapsed two-storey building at Kubwa Satellite town in Abuja.

It was gathered that the collapsed two storey building was under construction it trapped some of the workers.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Aso Savings Bank.

Five workers have been reportedly rescued while two are still trapped in the rubble.
One of the victims had said the collapsed building injured two workers who are in hospital receiving treatment leaving three under the rubble.


Emmanuel Omeke, a resident of the area, told journalists that the collapsed building was initially a shopping mall, but was recently converted into residential apartments.


He said the addition of extra blocks to the structure may have led to the collapse.
Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are involved in the rescue operation.
