Buhari Receives NASS’s Business Facilitation Bill For Approval
The new Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Provision) Bill 2022, commonly known as the Omnibus Bill, has been forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari for his approval by the Clerk of the 9th National Assembly.
This was said in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Advisor to the President on Ease of Doing Business/Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
The Executive Bill was approved by the House of Representatives in October 2022 and the Senate in December, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Business Facilitation Bill, in Oduwole’s opinion, seeks to formalise Executive Order 001 (EO1) on Transparency and Efficiency in Public Service Delivery.

She added that it will institutionalise changes to the business climate and update a few laws that had been identified as crucial to the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
“The bill is intended to integrate legislative provisions that affect the ease of doing business in Nigeria and to strengthen existing changes.

“The transmitted law is the result of partners from the public and commercial sectors working together for four years, starting in 2018.
“This comprises the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Nigerian Bar Association’s Section on Business Law, with the support of more than 40 law firms and consulting organisations.
“Other crucial stakeholders include the National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable (NASSBER) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
According to her, “The Omnibus bill is an intervention of PEBEC to consolidate and revise legislative provisions toward deepening PEBEC reforms and removing barriers for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.”
