Chicago State University Temporarily Locks Twitter Amidst Controversy Over Tinubu’s Academic Records
Chicago State University (CSU) has locked its X (formerly Twitter) account from the general public amid growing pressure over the academic records of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. The Chicago State University Official Twitter Handle is now protected so that no one can fallow the page.
It’s gathered that the institution temporarily locked it’s official Twitter handle after Atiku Abubakar, Tinubu’s main rival in the 2023 presidential election, asked the court for permission to subpoena Tinubu’s files from Chicago State University (CSU).
In Abubakar’s opinion, the documents would explain discrepancies in Tinubu’s background, such as publicly available records that seem to indicate that Chicago State University admitted a female student with Tinubu’s name in the 1970s.
Tinubu has filed a motion to stop Abubakar from receiving access to his academic records from a federal court in the United States. A certificate that was reissued in Tinubu’s name had errors, according to the institution, which blamed a clerk.

In the midst of the legal dispute, Abubakar made fun of Tinubu on Twitter by challenging him to explain how he graduated from Chicago State University without finishing elementary or secondary school. The hashtag “#AskTinubu” trended on Twitter on Sunday as Nigerians questioned Tinubu’s academic accomplishments in response to Abubakar’s remark, which spurred numerous responses.
