BREAKING: Adebutu’s Nomination For PDP Governor Revoked By Court

A previous ruling by the Federal High Court in favour of Oladipupo Adebutu, the PDP candidate for governor of Ogun State, has been overturned by the Court of Appeal in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In a decision on Friday, a three-member panel of the Appeal Court criticised Justice Taiwo Taiwo’s (now retired) decision to reject jurisdiction to hear a lawsuit by Jimi Adebisi Lawal.

Recall that Mr Lawal contested the PDP’s use of a delegate list in place of the list of delegate candidates chosen at the ward congresses to hold the primary election for governor on May 25, 2022.

The Federal High Court, however, has jurisdiction over the matter because it relates to the upcoming elections, according to Justice Biobele Georgewill’s lead decision on Friday.

The judge additionally directs that the case be remitted to the Chief Judge of the FHCfor a merits hearing.

Details coming shortly.
