NICOSIA — Cyprus has emerged as a critical diplomatic channel in the rising tension between Iran and Israel, with President Nikos Christodoulides revealing that Iran has asked Cyprus to convey unspecified messages to the Israeli government.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Christodoulides confirmed the development, saying the request followed high-level discussions between the Cypriot Foreign Minister and his Iranian counterpart on Friday night. “We have received messages to be conveyed,” Christodoulides stated. “This development reflects Cyprus’s trusted role as a regional stabilizer, and we urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint.”

In a bid to mitigate the conflict, Christodoulides said he has also spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as leaders from Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Greece.
