Bayelsa Gets New Acting Chief Judge

Justice Matilda Ayemieye was sworn in as the state’s acting chief judge (CJ) on Monday by Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri.

Diri urged Ayemieye to maintain the friendly relationship that existed between the executive and judicial branches in a speech during the brief ceremony held in the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House, Yenagoa.

In order to advance the judiciary to greater heights, he further advised her to move her colleagues along in the process.

She was “eminently qualified for the role,” according to him.

In order for her to succeed, the governor pleaded with the other judges to support her.
