LASU Transport & Logistics Students Set to Expand Horizons with Academic Opportunities at Arizona State University, USA
The School of Transport and Logistics at Lagos State University (LASU) has received a curriculum dubbed 4+1+1 from Arizona State University in the United States as a gift for its undergraduate students.
This was discussed in a presentation given on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Conference Hall, School Transport and Logistics, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos by Rebecca Mallen-Churchill, the Director, Graduate Recruitment and Admission, W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, United States of America.
The presentation was proclaimed open by Prof. Charles Asenime, Dean of the School of Transport and Logistics, who confirmed this possibility.
If the kids understood the arrangement, he claimed, they would start to gain more.
He thanked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, the Management and the visitor from Arizona State University for the feat.
In his short remarks, the Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Ibrahim Olateju applauded the feat and assured that the Postgraduate School would work with the outcome of the presentation.

In the course of her presentation, Mallen-Churchill elaborated on the opportunities that the students would benefit from if they chose to come over to Arizona State University which include good weather, technology, job opportunities, research as well as specialised masters programmes.
On funding, she listed scholarships, loans, assistantships and fellowships as some of the options available, with December 1, 2023 as the deadline for registration online.
There were two other presentations from Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) as well as Chartered Institute of Transport Administration(CIOTA).
In his closing Remarks, former Dean of the School, Prof. Gbadebo Odewunmi was excited by the prospects from the academic opportunities open to the students.
“I am excited at these opportunities. I urge you students to work with the Dean. The opportunities are huge, legitimate and promising. The World is dynamic, grab these opportunities and join the associations; CIOTA, CITL”, he ended.
The academic opportunities will see the undergraduates of the School of Transport and Logistics studying for four years out of the five years duration for the programme at LASU, then complete the fifth and final year at Arizona State University. Additionally, they would also complete a one year master’s degree programme at the Tempe Campus, Arizona, USA. Such students must, however, satisfy all academic and immigration procedures.
For the Ph.D students, as at the time of the presentation, the package was being fine tuned, but, most likely, the two and half years programme of which two years would be done at LASU, while the remaining six(6) months would be at the Arizona State University, USA.
The undergraduate as well as the postgraduate students turned up for the presentation in their large numbers. At the end, some of them asked questions as related to the presentation.
The Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer, Mrs. Adetutu Odusami gave the vote of thanks as the programme came to an end.
Other members of the Faculty present are the Sub-Dean, Dr. Ibrahim Forson, Dr. Abdul Fatai Yankee, Dr. Rafiu Olorunnimbe, Dr. Ogochukwu Ugboma, Dr. Joel Asaju, and Faculty Finance Officer, Mr. Larry Okegbuan .
