LSU’s Disability Support Office Shines Light on 2023 International Day for Persons Living with Disability

The Lagos State University Disability Support Office today, 4th December 2023 celebrated the International Day of persons living with disability with theme: *United in action to rescue and achieve the SDG’s for, with and by persons with disabilities.

The Disability Support Office, which was newly established by the Vice Chancellor, organised a rally to create awareness amongst members of the university community and students living with disability inside the campus.

The rally commenced and ended at the frontage of Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building.In a statement by the Deputy Registrar, Disability Support Office, Mrs. A. M. Afolami-Arojojoye, she said the International Day of disabled persons is aimed at promoting the rights and wellbeing of persons with disability in all spheres of society and development.

The importance of disability awareness has been given prominence over the recent decades, making it easier for people with disability and society to develop empathy for one another.

The awareness helps in subsiding the stereotypical mindset of society, hence providing vast opportunities for everyone to get involved in creating a positive and inclusive society for all.

The event was graced by members of staff from the disability support office, students’ affairs division, CGNS, as well as students with disabilities and students from the Faculty of Education.
