NIS Confirms Arrest of Notorious Native Doctor Attempting to Flee Country

Operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have arrested a well-known native doctor, Levi Obieze, popularly known as “E de play, e de show,” for his alleged involvement in a series of criminal activities. Obieze is wanted by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with kidnapping, abduction, and ritual killings.

According to a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the suspect was apprehended at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while trying to escape Nigeria on a motorcycle. The arrest followed actionable intelligence provided to the Lagos State Border Patrol Command.

Suspect Linked to Abduction of 13-Year-Old Girl and Grisly Discoveries

Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in Isiagu community, Enugu State, allegedly masterminded the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl. The incident occurred while she was walking with her father to the farm.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that two men on a motorcycle pretended their bike had developed a fault. As the father attempted to assist them with a cutlass, one of the men quickly seized the girl and sped away on the motorcycle.

Community members raised the alarm, prompting an immediate search by local vigilante groups and the police. During the rescue operation, residents reported hearing distress calls from a bush near Obieze’s residence. When vigilantes stormed the premises, they were met with resistance from the native doctor but eventually subdued him.

Two Decomposing Bodies Found at Suspect’s Residence

The search yielded disturbing results. Two decomposing corpses of pregnant women were discovered in separate soakaway pits within Obieze’s compound. This gruesome discovery sent shockwaves through the community, fueling speculation about ritual practices and serial killings linked to the suspect.

The teenage girl was rescued alive during the operation, adding a tragic but hopeful element to the otherwise horrifying incident. Videos circulating on social media show enraged community members parading the suspect naked, highlighting the level of public outrage over the events.

Obieze Was on the Run with Four Wives Before Arrest

Known for his ostentatious lifestyle, Levi Obieze had gained notoriety through frequent public displays of wealth. His sudden disappearance with his four wives following the discovery of the bodies suggested an attempt to evade justice.

However, the NIS apprehended him just in time. Akinlabi confirmed that the suspect’s identity was verified through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) slip found in his possession. During preliminary interrogation, Obieze reportedly confessed to the crimes.

NIS Collaborates with Police for Further Investigation

Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, assured the public of the Service’s commitment to national security and border integrity. She stated that the agency would continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure that suspects like Obieze face justice.

“We remain dedicated to preventing criminals from escaping the law through our borders,” she noted. “This arrest demonstrates our effectiveness in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial boundaries.”

The NIS has since initiated the process of handing over Obieze to the police for a full criminal investigation and prosecution.

Community Demands Justice and Better Security

Residents of Isiagu community have called on the government to ensure that Obieze and any accomplices are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Many expressed fear and anger over the atrocities discovered in their midst, emphasizing the need for improved security and vigilance at the grassroots level.

“We can’t sleep with our eyes closed anymore,” a local youth leader said. “If a man like this can live among us for so long, then we need to re-evaluate our communal safety systems.”

Conclusion: Arrest of Native Doctor a Warning to Criminal Elements

The arrest of Levi Obieze is not just a victory for law enforcement—it is also a stern warning to others engaged in similar crimes. As communities become more vigilant and agencies like the NIS strengthen border patrols, escaping justice is becoming increasingly difficult.

With the suspect now in custody and facing a full criminal probe, stakeholders await the outcome of what may become one of Enugu State’s most high-profile ritual crime trials in recent history.
