Protest Against US Ambassador to Nigeria Intensifies Over Alleged Support for Fulani-Linked Group

The International Coalition Against Christian Genocide in Nigeria (ICAC-GEN) has sparked a global outcry with its formal protest against US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, for allegedly endorsing a group linked to anti-Christian violence. The group submitted a petition to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, condemning Ambassador Mills for his recent meeting with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, a group widely accused of orchestrating deadly attacks on Christian communities across Nigeria.
In its protest against US Ambassador, the coalition described the April 28 meeting as “deadly and offensive,” warning that it could be interpreted as an official American endorsement of ongoing genocide against Christians in the Middle Belt and Northern regions of Nigeria.
Protest against US Ambassador for Ignoring Christian Killings
In a strongly worded petition signed by Dr. Nwankwo Tony Nwaezeigwe, ICAC-GEN decried the ambassador’s decision to host the Fulani-dominated group at the US Embassy in Abuja. The coalition emphasized that the meeting occurred while armed herdsmen and militant groups linked to Fulani identity continue to unleash terror on Christian communities.

According to ICAC-GEN, the protest against US Ambassador indicates Nigerians dissappointment in the United States, adding that Mills’ actions amount to a betrayal of US neutrality and Christian lives. The coalition said his silence in the face of atrocities was deafening, and his engagement with Miyetti Allah without any condemnation of their alleged crimes paints the US as complicit.
“By meeting Miyetti Allah without acknowledging the massacre of Christians, we protest against US Ambassador because Mills has sent a dangerous signal,” the petition stated. “The message is clear—the lives of Nigerian Christians do not matter to the United States government under Ambassador Mills.”
Allegations of Fulani-Orchestrated Massacres
ICAC-GEN detailed gruesome attacks allegedly carried out by Fulani militants, including the April 14 massacre of 51 Christians in Zikke town, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The victims included entire families—some with children as young as three and four years old.
The group provided a comprehensive list of the names of all the deceased, citing the attack as part of a systematic campaign of ethnic and religious cleansing. The survivors, it said, have been displaced into Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps under dire conditions.
Calls for Ambassador Mills’ Removal Grow Louder
In its letter of protest against US Ambassador, the coalition made a direct demand for the immediate redeployment of Ambassador Mills from Nigeria. Dr. Nwaezeigwe argued that the ambassador has shown disregard for human suffering and failed in his duty as a neutral diplomatic envoy.
“He has prioritized relations with Fulani cattle owners over the lives of thousands of innocent Christians,” Nwaezeigwe declared. “This can no longer stand.”
The coalition insists that the ambassador’s continued presence in Nigeria compromises the credibility of the United States in West Africa and deepens distrust among local Christian communities.
Claims of Government Complicity in Terrorism
The protest against US Ambassador did not stop at Mills. It also accused Nigerian government officials of complicity in the violence. According to ICAC-GEN, Nigerian security forces often release captured terrorists without prosecution, and some are even recruited into the army or police.
The coalition named high-level officials—including the President, Vice President, and National Security Adviser—as individuals allegedly turning a blind eye to terrorism due to ethnic and religious bias. These actions, it said, have led to the forcible uprooting of Christian communities from ancestral lands, with some areas renamed and resettled by foreign Fulani herdsmen.
Ambassador Mills and Alleged Anti-Christian Agenda
Dr. Nwaezeigwe and his group who protest against US Ambassador, further claimed that Ambassador Mills’ actions reflect the influence of the Obama-Biden administration’s anti-Christian agenda. He expressed hope in a political turnaround under former President Donald Trump, describing him as a symbol of Christian liberation for Nigeria.
“Just like Paul and Silas were freed in Acts 16, the Trump-led revival represents the divine earthquake Nigerian Christians have prayed for,” he said passionately.
Demand to Label Miyetti Allah a Terrorist Organization
In its final plea, ICAC-GEN urged the US government to designate Miyetti Allah as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). The group contends that Miyetti Allah serves as a regional coordination hub for jihadist groups, including Boko Haram, ISWAP, and the Lakurawa militia, spreading terror across West and Central Africa.
While blaming protest against US Ambassador, ICAC-GEN warned that without international action, the situation could escalate further, potentially destabilizing the region. It also emphasized that accountability, justice, and peace cannot prevail without strong action from foreign partners, particularly the United States.
As diplomatic tensions mount, this protest against the US Ambassador to Nigeria signals a deepening crisis between Nigeria’s Christian population and American foreign policy interests in West Africa. The global community watches closely as calls for justice and transparency echo louder than ever.
