TETFund Presents Facilities to NDA, Kaduna Poly, Kaduna State Varsity
The nation’s top military university, the Nigeria Defence Academy, the Nigerian Airforce Institute of Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, and Kaduna State University have all received funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund as part of annual intervention initiatives.
The President, who was represented by Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence, stated that for the 2020–2021 yearly intervention and merged projects, NDA gobbled over N685 million, AFIT over N604 million, KASU over N491 million, and Kaduna Polytechnic over N450 million.
A Computer Based Test hall, buildings for the Faculty of Management and Military Science, as well as the AFIT, Department of Cyber Security, Students’ Hostel of the 2020 Zonal Intervention, and Students’ Hostel of the 2021 Zonal Intervention were among the NDA projects that were officially inaugurated.
Other commission projects at The Kaduna Polytechnic include the newly built Department of Railway Engineering, Chemical Engineering Classrooms, and High-Grade Oxygen Plant for Medicals.
Senator Wamakko emphasized the value of education in his remarks shortly after the projects were inaugurated, and he added that doing so will significantly improve teaching and learning throughout the nation.
He claims that the administration of President Buhari places a high priority on education.
According to him, commissioning these projects now will significantly improve teaching, learning, and academic standards since, as we all know, education is crucial to a country’s socioeconomic development.
“I want to repeat that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s goal includes education, thus the Federal Government will continue to give our educational institutions the support they need to be competitive on a global scale for the economic and technological development of the nation.
It is well known that TETFund has excelled in providing physical infrastructure, support for academic staff training and development, book publication, ICT, Research and Development, among others, at public tertiary educational institutions across the nation with the help of the Federal Government.
I’m happy to see that TETFund’s intervention efforts have not been waived for the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, or other public tertiary educational institutions in Kaduna State.
Major General Ibrahim Yusuf, the NDA Commandant, had earlier claimed that the organization had received approximately N8.2 billion in support from the TETFund during the previous seven years.
According to him, around N6 billion of the funds were used to construct the infrastructure, while N2.2 billion was used for things like training, research and publication, the library, and information and communication technology.
The NDA now has nine active TETFund initiatives from the combined monies planned for interventions from 2019 to 2022, he added.

The ceremony, according to TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono, who also spoke, signaled the beginning of a significant 2023 TETFund activity.
In 2023, 54 tertiary institutions in 28 states will host the inauguration of 162 famous TETFund projects, according to Echono, represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Olatunde Olajide.
According to him, the Federal Government’s commitment to provide the necessary physical infrastructure in the country’s public tertiary institutions is clearly demonstrated by the financing of the projects through TETFund.
He stated, “At TETFund, it is our mission to make sure that value is realized for monies granted to the benefitting institutions to improve teaching, learning, and research and, by extension, make them globally competitive.
The NDA officials were praised by Echono for finishing these three initiatives as well as other notable ones being carried out in the Academy with TETFund funding.
