WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Private Candidates Results—67.55% Score Credit and Above

Over 65,000 Candidates Participated in the Examination Across West Africa
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates. A total of 43,923 candidates (67.55%) secured credits and above in at least five subjects.
Improved Performance in Core Subjects
According to WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, out of the 65,023 candidates who sat for the exam, 34,878 candidates (53.64%) achieved credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks a 9.35% improvement compared to the 2022 and 2023 results.
Examination Conduct and Candidate Demographics
The examination was held across 5,067 centers, utilizing both paper-and-pen and computer-based testing modes. A total of 31,504 males and 33,519 females participated, with female candidates slightly leading at 51.55%.
Results Processing and Malpractice Cases
- 95.90% (62,354 candidates) have had their results fully processed and released.
- 4.10% (2,669 candidates) are awaiting results due to processing errors.
- 3.96% (2,577 candidates) had their results withheld over allegations of examination malpractice.
