Yaba College of Technology Set for Transformation into Yaba Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies

Yaba, Nigeria – May 15, 2025 – A pivotal moment in the history of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has arrived as the bill to upgrade the institution into the Yaba Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies received its second reading in the Nigerian Senate. Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, Rector of YABATECH, expressed his gratitude and elation during a public address, emphasizing the significance of this legislative development.
Dr. Abdul highlighted that this proposal is not just a legislative step but a national recognition of YABATECH’s rich legacy and its vital role in Nigeria’s technical and vocational education landscape. Established in 1947, the college has long been a bastion of learning, where countless Nigerians have acquired skills that contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.

In his address, he acknowledged the support of Nigeria’s President and the leadership of Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who has been instrumental in advocating for the bill.
