APC Still Blames PDP For Nigerians Poverty After 7 Years In Office

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has absolved the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of responsibility for poverty in Nigeria, adding that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) caused it.

This clarification was given by the APC’s Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, on Monday during an appearance on Sunrise Daily, a prominent Channels Television programme.

While claiming that he could not dispute recent National Bureau of Statistics statistics, Ibrahim blamed the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for throwing the country into disarray as a result of poor governance.

The NBS revealed in November that over 133 million Nigerians, or 63% of the population, were multidimensionally poor.

According to the agency, 65 percent of the destitute people live in the north, while the remaining 35 percent live in the south.

The APC publicity director, on the other hand, vehemently defended Buhari’s rule, claiming that it had no case to answer when it came to the destitute status of the typical Nigerian.

“I am glad the NBS did not claim the APC is impoverishing Nigerians,” he stated. This poverty that has taken control of Nigeria is the product of the PDP’s 16-year misrule.

“Since taking office, the APC has done everything it can to raise the standard of living, to get people to where they want to go, and to provide assistance.”

Ibrahim went on to praise the current administration, saying it deserved praise for producing more millionaire rice farmers since it was elected in May 2015.
