False Soldier Apprehended for Assisting Suspected Cultists’ Escape

Sanni Ayuba, a rumoured phoney soldier, was detained by Ogun State Social Orientation and Safety Corps agents after he violently intervened to obstruct the arrest of a few suspected cultists on Monday in the Adigbe neighbourhood of the state’s Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf, on behalf of the Corps State Commander, Soji Ganzallo.

Ganzallo noted that the fictitious soldier was apprehended when he forcibly interfered with the arrest of some suspected cultists nearby, aiding their escape.

He said, “ACC Adesina Adedamola of the Directorate of Operation of the Corps deployed his team to get some suspected cult boys arrested at a location, and they captured two of them and cuffed them, but to the Corps dismay, Sanni Ayuba, who was at the scene, flashed a military identity card and stopped the officers from performing their duties, and the suspects were hijacked while they escaped with handcuffs.

The suspected phoney military guy was later detained and subject to a comprehensive investigation, but the other two conspirators, who identified themselves as Naval officers, managed to avoid capture.

Ganzallo stated that after being questioned, the suspect, who had been found in possession of certain exhibits, including a phoney Army identification card, an Army camouflage scarf, a dagger, a mobile, and a dog chain with gun pendants, had admitted to impersonation.

He mentioned that the suspect and the evidence had been given to the Ogun State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for additional investigation.
