APC Denies Peter Obi’s Use of Stadium For Presidential Campaign In Kogi – LP Chieftain

The Kogi State Chapter of the Labour Party has decried Governor Yahaya Bello’s All Progressive Congress government’s denial of entry to the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja for Peter Obi’s campaign.

It was gathered that the Labour Party campaign for its presidential candidate Peter Obi was just 24 hours away when it denied use of the stadium.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the Labour Party’s Kogi State Chairman, Suleiman AbdulAhmed, who highlighted that their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was slated to campaign in Lokoja on Tuesday, condemned the Kogi State government’s actions as wicked and anti-democratic.

Ahmed emphasised that the Labour Party had written to the Kogi State administration on multiple occasions, only to have their principal’s visit cancelled at the last minute.

Despite the frustration of the state government, he says Labour Party is determined to ensure that the campaign goes forward as planned.

Ahmed emphasised that the Labour Party is out to free the people from the chains of poverty and mismanagement imposed by the current APC government.

While urging party followers not to be discouraged by the latest situation, Ahmed regretted the widespread destruction of the Labour Party billboard in Kogi State by alleged APC thugs.

“If they had denied them the right to use that stadium for the campaign, I am not sure they would be in office now,” Ahmed continued.

Ahmed said: ”The truth is that some people create bizarre characters. You will see campaign billboards and banners in several states.

”There is a law in Kogi State that requires you to pay a lot of money only to put up a campaign billboard.”

According to Ahmed, “The government enacted these policies to ensure that credible candidates do not win elections, which will not work.” The people of Kogi State and Nigeria, in general, are tired of the All Progressive Congress’s terrible leadership.

“So denying people access to facilities is not an option.” People will undoubtedly vote for credible candidates.”

”Money has never been an issue. They made numerous attempts to discourage us. They even quadrupled the stadium’s budget only to keep us from using it,” Ahmed pointed out.

Ahmed alleged that the APC government in Kogi is doing this on purpose at the eleventh hour in order for the campaign to fail. ”The stadium’s management stated that the decision to deny us admission to the stadium came from the top,” he said.
